NCP Chlorchem (Pty) Ltd (herein referred to as “NCP”) operates a chlor-alkali facility situated in Chloorkop, about 20 km northeast of Johannesburg in the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, Gauteng Province.
The Chloorkop site comprises of the head office and a Plant Area and a Solar Evaporation Farm (SEF). The Plant Area contains processing plants owned and operated by NCP, as well as tenants, making use of NCP products or by-products. The SEF is approximately 224 hectares in extent and is located 0.5 km north-east of the factory site across Zuurfontein Road. The Chloorkop facility is declared a National Key Point / Critical Infrastructure and a Major Hazard Installation.
